Super Glides start at around $11,900. After the '09s come out, I bet a leftover but still new '07 or '08 could be gotten for much less than that, and a "gently used" one, even less.

That's your Harley and the tattoo for around 10 grand! There has never been a better time to get a deal on a new Harley!

pfffttt...Yeah, I'm laughing because fact is funnier than fiction. I know of folks who have invested alot more than that first time out. (They replaced their wardrobe with all the HD clothing line.) yikes!

Mr. M/C, I broke out of my summer lethargy for a moment and felt like being funny. Surprised myself by doing something different with a blog entry. I tried to do a second bit of humor last night and the Mrs. said "It's not as funny as the other one."

Lucky, I guess I'll just noodle along and see what happens. I've been re-reading some of my old blog entries and the writing was better then and I'd hate, like an old ball player, to play too long and thereby taint my legendary status. Ahem...

Dave, I had the great fun of buying a brand new Softtail Custom back in '86 well before it was the fashionable thing to do. Friends even advised me against it as everyone knew H-D was still going to go out of business. The new Crossbones addition is the first H-D since then to tempt me at all but as it's purely a solo ride and the Mrs. is in love with the smooth comfort of the Gold Wing I shall have to continue to squealch the angry loner rebel biker that secretly still lurks inside of me.

Joker, My 2-place ATV sits unused in the garage. The used ATV market is about as hot as the used SUV market these days. Maybe someone will trade me for a Sportster or an older Big Twin?

In truth, I wouldn't mind having another H-D, I enjoyed my first one a great deal, but the budget only goes so far these days and less far next year so I have to decide the ultimate question: "What do I really want to ride for the rest of my riding days?" After forty+ years of changing bikes more often than bikers change underwear I am trying to adapt to the whole mentality of actually keeping one bike for a long time. Makes me shudder just to think about it but reality is what it is.

Regarding having money for just one bike... I can relate. I absolutely love my Sporty. Wouldn't give it up for a bigger bike. I would love to have a bigger bike cruiser for the long haul in addition to the sporty though. But for now, one is all I get. I should feel lucky I have one. I know many don't have that luxury in life. I'm also fortunate in having my bar rocket that my wife does not ride, therfore no need for the comfy two seater.

Like Big D. once said when someone asked him if he would consider trading up the Sportster for a Big V-Twin... "why would I want to give up a Corvette for a Suburban?" For my situation, I agree, but want both. I feel your dilema. Good luck with whatever you choose.
